The green in my hair is fading pretty fast. [info]compilerbitch said I should get two to three weeks out of green, but after a week and a half, covering two washes (plus one additional rinse, because the day after I first dyed it, there was still an ammoniacal smell of bleach hanging about me), substantial swathes of it, particularly the front, are now a greenish yellow. I may try redyeing those patches piecemeal at the weekend, rather than waiting for the remaining bright green to fade. This might help eke out my remaining dye a bit longer, but once I've run out of bright green, what then? Buy more and redye... or try out a different colour?

Submit your colour requests here! :o)

Blue, I'm told, fades even faster than green. Though that's not to say no...

It's not too bad if you leave it in a decent amount of time. Unfortunately, a decent amount of time tends to run into many hours, which may not be your idea of fun. I like what I see of the green, by the way. Has anyone suggested pink yet? What dye are you using? Oh, also, it's OK to wash your hair after you've bleached it and before you apply the dye, AFAICT. It does help rather with the bleach smell.

Yes, that's a really good idea. The remaining bleach will actually attack the dye otherwise.

(and don't use conditioner between the steps because it makes your hair less permeable to the dye)

Ah. [info]ewtikins said she did that, but that that was probably paranoia. I left mine in only the length of time it took me to heat up dinner, eat it and wash it, because it was getting late.

You just have, but I can't see myself with pink hair.

What dye are you using?

Beeunique Apple Green.

Thanks; I'll bear that in mind if I choose to rebleach and redye rather than letting my hair revert to natural once it's grown out. (I did give my hair a thorough rinse, but did not wash it.)

You're probably right about the pink. How about something more like teal/peacock blue? Or a dark green?

That's the one thing I'm not doing, as I really don't like the Sick Boy image.
